Set up emergency alerts for Japan on iPhone

Learn how to set up emergency alerts on your iPhone in Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency and the Japanese government provide the alerts.

Set up emergency alerts

  1. Tap Settings > Notifications.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the slider for Emergency Alerts to turn them on or off.

Depending on which model iPhone you have and which version of iOS you're using, you may have access to earthquake alerts, tsunami alerts, and other disaster information. Refer to the information below to find out which types of alerts you can get.

iPhone 4s or later

You can get earthquake alerts, tsunami alerts, and other disaster information on:

  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4s

iPhone 4

On iPhone 4, you can only get earthquake alerts and tsunami alerts.

iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS

You can get earthquake alerts on any iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS.
