About the battery charge icon on your iPod

The battery charge icon on your iPod screen shows the status of your battery. Learn what the different levels of battery charge mean.

When your iPod is charging

If your iPod is awake while charging, you'll see a battery icon in the upper-right hand corner of your display. If your iPod is asleep while charging, you'll see the icon in the middle of the screen.

Depending on your iPod model, you'll see one of these icons when the battery is charging:

When your iPod is charged

Depending on your iPod model, when your iPod is fully charged, you'll see one of these icons:

When your iPod has low power

When your iPod is disconnected from power or your computer, the battery icon will show how much charge is left. It might take a few minutes for the icon to accurately reflect the battery charge after it's disconnected.

If you're using your iPod and it has low battery charge, you might see one of these messages:

  • No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power.
  • No batttery remains. Please connect to power.
  • Connect to Power.

When your iPod has low power and is charging

If your iPod is connected to your computer and has little to no battery charge left, you might see one of these icons:




If your iPod is connected to your computer when it has little to no battery charge, it might not show up on your computer or in iTunes right away. Depending on your iPod model, it can take up to 30 minutes before it has enough battery charge to turn on.  If you don't use your iPod for 14 to 28 days, you need to charge the battery in order to use it again.
