Enabling Over-The-Air Supervision on iOS devices using Profile Manager

Organizations enrolled into the Device Enrollment Program (DEP) can enable Supervision on devices available in DEP by using a configured Mobile Device Management (MDM) server.

Use these steps to enable Supervision on enrolled devices. Before you begin, configure your MDM server in the DEP portal. For more information on administering the DEP program, refer to the Deployment Programs help document.

  1. From the Profile Manager web admin, select the Devices list. Then, select the device you would like to enable for Supervision. You can also add devices to a device group to configure multiple devices at the same time.

  2. Click the Settings tab once the device or device group is selected. Select the option Prompt User To Enroll Device. This tells the device to enroll with Profile Manager on the next device activation.

  3. Once the device is selected, you can enable the Supervise (iOS only) option to enable Over-The-Air Supervision the next time the device is activated.

You can also enable other options to configure the setup experience for the user such as deciding which screens to show to the user when setting up an iOS device.

To configure Over-The-Air Supervision using a third-party MDM server, consult the documentation for that product, or contact the developer for more help.
