Move a child to another group using Family Sharing

While you can't remove a child under 13* years old from your family group, you can move them to another group.

If the child is already in your family

You can ask an organizer from another family group to invite the child to their family. After they use the steps to make the request, you'll get a notification. You can approve from the notification or use these steps:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8 or later:
    • On iOS 10.3 or later, tap Settings > [your name] > Invitations.
    • On iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap Settings > iCloud > Invitations.
  • On your Mac with OS X Yosemite or later, choose Apple menu > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Manage Family.

After you approve, the child moves from your family group to the other family group.

If you want to invite the child to your family

After you send the invitation, the child's current family organizer will get a notification on their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.  After they approve, you must provide parental consent and a valid payment method. Then the child will move from their current family group to your family group.

Valid payment methods include credit cards, debit cards, China Union Pay, or AliPay (China Only). See how to add a payment method in the iTunes Store.
