Create a pass using Siri Mode in Apple Wallet

Use Siri Mode in the Camera app to scan a barcode or QR code, or take a screenshot of a digital code, to create and store passes in the Wallet app.

What you need

To create a pass, you need:

Create a pass in the Photos app

  1. On your iPhone, open the Photos app.

  2. Select any photo you've taken of a barcode or QR code.

  3. Tap the Info button or swipe up on the photo.

  4. If the code is successfully detected, you'll see the Add Pass to Wallet button.

"Add Pass to Wallet" button in the information pane below a picture of a loyalty card in the Photos app.
  5. Tap the Add Pass to Wallet button.

  6. Make your edits or add any fields.

You can also take a screenshot of a barcode or QR code. After you take a screenshot, the Add Pass to Wallet button will appear.

Create a pass with your camera

  1. On your iPhone, open the Camera app.

  2. Take a photo of an existing physical pass that has a barcode or QR code. For example, a membership pass.

  3. Tap the Add Pass to Wallet button.

Some barcodes or QR codes rotate and change periodically, causing them to expire. If you take a photo of a barcode or QR code that expires, such as a ticket for a concert, the pass won't work.

Customize your passes

Once you add your pass to the Wallet app, you can edit certain fields within the pass. You can add your name, membership status, the duration of your membership, location, and more. You can also customize the appearance of the pass.

Create a pass manually in the Wallet app

  1. On your iPhone, open the Wallet app.

  2. Tap the Add Card button, then tap Create a Pass.

  3. Tap Create Pass Manually, then choose your pass template. You can create standard, membership, and event passes.

  4. Make customizations to your pass, such as changing the background color and adding to the text fields.

  5. Tap the Checkmark to add the pass to Wallet.

The standard template can be used for insurance cards, gift cards, or passes that aren't membership or events.

In the Wallet app, you'll find your new pass in the stack of passes and tickets below your payment cards.
