Mac Studio (M5 Max or M5 Ultra) Internal Frame

Before You Begin

Warning

Read Mac Electrical Safety and follow workspace handling guidelines before you begin.

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (0.3–1.2 Nm)

  • Torx T6 70 mm bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Use the adjustable torque driver and T6 bit to remove eight 6IP screws from the internal frame.

    • Important: The 6IP screw (923-15885) over the power cord port (1) is shorter than the other 6IP screws. During reassembly, it has a different torque specification.

    • One screw (923-15885) (1)

    • Seven screws (923-12492)

  2. Move the power cord port (1) and power supply signal cable (2) out of the way as you lift the internal frame out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Position the internal frame in the housing with the lock slot (1) opposite the SDXC card slot board and front USB-C ports (2).

  2. Set the torque value on the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver to 0.4 Nm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and T6 bit to reinstall one 6IP screw (923-15885) over the power cord port (1).

  3. Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 0.6 Nm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and T6 bit to reinstall seven 6IP screws (923-12492) into the internal frame.
