Control MainStage remotely using a VNC app

To control MainStage remotely from an iPhone or iPad, use a third-party Virtual Network Computing (VNC) app like RealVNC Viewer.

In MainStage 4.0 or later, you won't be able to control MainStage with Logic Remote. To control MainStage remotely, you can use RealVNC Viewer or other VNC apps. The instructions in this article describe how to connect your Mac running MainStage from an iPad using RealVNC.

Enable screen sharing settings on your Mac

  1. On your Mac that you're using for MainStage, go to Settings > General, then tap Sharing.

  2. If Remote Management is on, turn it off. You can’t have both Screen Sharing and Remote Management on at the same time.

  3. Click the info button next to Screen Sharing.

  4. Turn on Screen Sharing and note the address of your Mac (such as 192.168.x.x), which you'll use to connect RealVNC to your Mac.

  5. Open MainStage on your Mac.

Download and open RealVNC Viewer on your iPhone or iPad

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store and download RealVNC Viewer.

  2. Open RealVNC, then tap the plus button in the top-right corner of the screen to create a direct connection to your Mac.

  3. On the Details screen, enter the address of your Mac as it appears in Screen Sharing settings, which you noted when you turned on Screen Sharing.

  4. Enter a name for the Mac you're connecting to, tap Save, then tap Done. An icon for your Mac appears in the Address Book.

  5. Tap the information button on your Mac in the Address Book.

  6. Tap Interaction, then tap Touch Panel. This way, you can tap and drag to adjust MainStage controls on your iPhone or iPad.

  7. Set other options, then tap Connect.

  8. Tap Continue, enter your Mac username and password, then tap Continue.
