Use Live Translation on iPhone

Turn on Apple Intelligence
Update your iPhone and make sure it's compatible with Apple Intelligence.
Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, and turn on Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence uses generative models and outputs may vary. Check important information for accuracy.
Use Live Translation with the Messages app
On your iPhone, go to the Messages app, and tap the message that you want to translate.
In the message, tap the person's name at the top.
Scroll down and tap to turn on Automatically Translate.
Select languages for Translate From and Translate To. The first time you choose a language, tap to download the language. The languages might take a few minutes to download.
Go back to the original message, and send a message to start the translation. If you want to stop the translation, tap Translating [language] at the bottom of the message, then Stop Translation.
Live Translation in Messages is available in Chinese (Simplified), English (UK, U.S.), French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (Spain). If you're using cellular data, carrier charges may apply.
Use Live Translation with the Phone app
On your iPhone, tap the Phone app to start a phone call like usual.
During the call, tap
, then tap Live Translation to translate your voice.Select languages for From and To. The first time you choose a language, the languages might take a few minutes to download.
Tap Start Translation. You then hear spoken translations during the call. If you want to stop the translation, tap Translating [language] at the bottom of the phone screen, then Stop Translation.
Live Translation in Phone app is available for one-on-one calls in English (UK, U.S.), French (France), German, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (Spain). If you're using cellular data, carrier charges may apply.
Use Live Translation with the FaceTime app
On your iPhone, tap the FaceTime app, and start a FaceTime call like usual.
During the call, tap
, then tap Live Translation.Select languages for From and To. The first time you choose a language, the languages might take a few minutes to download.
Tap Start Translation. You then hear spoken translations during the call. If you want to stop the translation, tap Stop at the top of the call.
