Removal
Position the housing with the logic board facing up.
Use ESD-safe tweezers to peel back the polyester film tape on the end of the left fan flex cable.
Use the black stick to flip up the locking lever on the end of the left fan flex cable connector.
Separate the tips of the ESD-safe tweezers. Insert one tip under the wide portion of the left fan flex cable as shown to loosen the adhesive between the fan flex cable and the logic board. Then slide the end of the left fan flex cable out of the connector.
Caution: Don’t touch any of the small parts on the logic board. Keep the tweezers parallel to the logic board to prevent damage.
Repeat steps 2 through 4 on the other side of the logic board to disconnect the right fan flex cable. Then continue to step 6.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-11033) from the fans (one from each fan).
Use the 2.5 mm hex nut driver to remove the nine 2.5 mm hex nut screws from the logic board.
Five 2.5 mm hex nut screws (923-11028) (1)
Four 2.5 mm hex nut screws (923-11025) (2)
Slightly tilt the logic board away from the housing as shown (1). Then slide the edge of the left fan out from under the logic board to remove the fan from the housing (2).
