Let another person use your Apple Vision Pro with Guest User

Use the Guest User feature to share your Apple Vision Pro with others and control which apps they can use.

If you have visionOS 2.4 or later, you can start a Guest User session by having your guest put on your Apple Vision Pro and then approving the session on your iPhone or iPad. You can also start a Guest User session while you're wearing the device, and then hand it over to your guest.

Allow a Guest User session from your iPhone or iPad

First, get your devices ready:

  • Update your Apple Vision Pro to visionOS 2.4 or later.

  • Update your iPhone iOS 18.4 or later. If you're using an iPad, it needs iPadOS 18.4 or later.

  • On your Vision Pro, go to Settings > Optic ID & Passcode. Tap Enable Guest User with Nearby Device, then tap the iPhone or iPad that you want to use.

Then you can start a Guest User session:

  1. Have your guest put on your Apple Vision Pro. A prompt appears that says Press Digital Crown for Guest User.

  2. Ask your guest to press the Digital Crown. Your iPhone or iPad asks if you want to allow the Guest User session.

  3. Tap Continue on your iPhone or iPad.

  4. Tap Start with All Apps to begin, or tap Select Apps to choose the apps your guest can use. The Guest User session begins after you select apps and tap Start.

If you have trouble allowing a Guest User session from your iPhone or iPad, check these things:

  • Make sure your Vision Pro and your iPhone or iPad are signed in to the same Apple Account using two-factor authentication.

  • Check that your devices have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.

  • Keep your Vision Pro and iPhone or iPad near each other.

See what your guest sees

When you approve a Guest User session, your guest's view is mirrored on your iPhone or iPad.

  • View Mirroring should begin automatically. If it doesn't, tap the Guest User button that appears at the top of your iPhone or iPad screen.

An iPhone screen shows the Guest User button that appears at the top of the iPhone screen when Guest User session begins on Apple Vision Pro.
  • To leave View Mirroring, swipe up from the bottom of the screen or tap the close button.

  • To return to View Mirroring, tap the Guest User button in Control Center or on the Lock Screen. You can also tap the Apple Vision Pro Live Activities button at the top of your iPhone screen.

How to start a Guest User session while you're wearing Apple Vision Pro

  1. Open Control Center.

  2. Tap the Control Center buttonControl Center button to see more options.

  3. Tap the Guest User buttonGuest User button.

  4. Tap All Apps to give your guest access to all the apps on your Vision Pro. To restrict their app access, tap Select Apps, then scroll down and tap each app that you want your guest to use.

When your guest starts using Apple Vision Pro

Your guest might first be asked to press and hold the Digital Crown until the displays align and a green check mark appears.

If any guest has used your Apple Vision Pro in the last 30 days and saved their settings, your current guest is asked to choose between using those saved settings or setting up as a new guest. If your current guest was the most recent guest user, they can choose their saved settings and begin using the device.

If your guest is new, they see a brief video showing how to navigate Vision Pro with their eyes and hands. Next, they're guided through hand and eye setup. Then your guest can choose to save their hand and eye data to make it more convenient if they use your device often. Only one guest user setup can be saved.

When hand and eye setup are complete, your guest can begin using your Vision Pro.

What's available during a Guest User session

When your guest is using your Apple Vision Pro, they have access to all apps and data on the device, or just the apps you allowed when you started the session. When a guest uses an allowed app, they have access to all the information in that app. For example, if they use the Music app and you're signed in to Apple Music, your guest can see your playlists, favorite songs, and recently played music.

During a Guest User session, your Persona, Optic ID, and Apple Pay are restricted. If you have a passcode on your Vision Pro, areas in Settings such as Apple Account, Wallet, Health Data, and Privacy & Security are also unavailable. A guest can view health data that's stored in apps that you make available to them, and their health data may be saved if they use any of those apps.

Your guest can access some settings in Control Center to customize their experience:

  1. Open Control Center.

  2. Tap the More button next to Guest User.

  3. In the menu that appears, your guest can choose to change accessibility options, redo or delete their eye and hand setup, and learn more about their privacy as Guest User.

If your guest customizes accessibility settings and saves their profile, those adjustments stay in place next time they use your device. Accessibility settings that your guest configures don't affect your accessibility preferences.

End a Guest User session

When your guest is finished using Apple Vision Pro, they can take off the device to end the Guest User session. The next time you put on Vision Pro, it returns automatically to your settings.
