Mac mini (2023 with M2 Pro) Antenna Plate

Before You Begin

Remove the following part before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • Antenna tool

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torx T6 70 mm bit

Removal

  1. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and Torx T6 70 mm bit to remove the six T6 screws (923-07583) (1) (923-07582) (2) from the antenna plate.

  2. Insert the black stick into one of the ventilation holes. Then move the antenna plate slightly off to one side as shown (1).

    • Caution

      • Don’t scratch the housing as you move the antenna plate.

      • Don’t remove the antenna plate from the housing yet. The antenna plate is attached to the logic board by the antenna coaxial cable and T6 screw (2).

  3. Keep the Torx T6 70 mm bit in the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver.

  4. Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx T6 70 mm bit to remove the T6 screw (923-03034) from the antenna coaxial cable grounding strap (1).

    • Note: The T6 screw has a captive washer that stays attached to the screw.

  5. Use the antenna tool to lift the end of the antenna coaxial cable off the connector (2).

  6. Remove the antenna plate from the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Rest the antenna plate on the housing as shown. Ensure that the antenna coaxial cable is positioned over the antenna connector and the grounding strap.

  2. Use ESD-safe tweezers to align the end of the antenna coaxial cable over the connector. Then use the blunt end of the antenna tool to press the antenna coaxial cable to the connector.

    • Important: Ensure that the antenna coaxial cable is fully connected before continuing to step 3.

  3. Insert the Torx T6 70 mm bit into the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver. Set the torque value to 13.0 Ncm.

  4. Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx T6 70 mm bit to reinstall the T6 screw (923-03034) into the antenna coaxial cable grounding strap.

  5. Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx T6 70 mm bit to partially reinstall the six T6 screws (923-07583) (1) (923-07582) (2) into the antenna plate.

  6. Keep the Torx T6 70 mm bit in the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver. Set the torque value to 29.5 Ncm.

  7. Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx T6 70 mm bit to fully reinstall all six screws in the order shown.
