Choose the correct email provider when adding an account to Mail

When adding an email account to Mail on your Apple device, you might need to choose from a list of common email service providers. Find out which provider is appropriate for your email address.

About choosing an email provider

When adding an email account to Mail, you might be asked to choose from a list of email providers, such as iCloud, Google, yahoo!, and Outlook.com. The correct choice for your email address might not be obvious, because the email provider’s name isn’t part of your email address, or your email provider relies on a different provider for account authentication.

If you’re not asked to choose a provider, your provider was automatically identified based on the email address you entered.

If you need to set up your email account again

If the email provider you chose when adding your email account is not correct, remove the account from your device, then choose the correct email provider when adding it again. (If you don’t remove the account first, you might see a message that the email account already exists.)
