Block and unblock channels and topics in Apple News

You can block specific channels or topics you don't want to read.

Block or unblock a channel or topic in the Apple News app on your iPhone

To block a channel or topic:

  1. Tap the Following tabNo alt supplied for Image.

  2. Search for the channel or topic you want to block, then tap it.

  3. Tap the More Actions button.

  4. Choose Block Channel or Block Topic.

To unblock a channel or topic:

  1. Tap the Following tabNo alt supplied for Image.

  2. Scroll down to Manage and tap Blocked.

  3. Tap the Remove buttonNo alt supplied for Image next to the channel or topic you want to unblock, then tap Unblock.

To block a channel or topic:

  1. Tap the Search tab in the tab bar.

  2. Search for the channel or topic you want to block, then tap it.

  3. Tap the More Actions button.

  4. Choose Block Channel or Block Topic.

To unblock a channel or topic:

  1. If the sidebar is closed, tap the Sidebar buttonNo alt supplied for Image to open it.

  2. Scroll down to Manage and tap Blocked.

  3. Tap the Remove buttonNo alt supplied for Image next to the channel or topic you want to unblock, then tap Unblock.

To block a channel or topic:

  1. Click Search in the sidebar. If the sidebar isn't shown, choose View > Show Sidebar in the menu bar.

  2. Search for the channel or topic you want to block, then click it.

  3. Click the More Actions button.

  4. Choose Block Channel or Block Topic, then click Block.

To unblock a channel or topic:

  1. Choose File in the menu bar.

  2. Choose Manage Blocked Channels & Topics.

  3. Click the Remove buttonNo alt supplied for Image next to the channel or topic you want to unblock, then click Unblock.

If something you've blocked appears in Top Stories

Blocking is not supported in Top Stories or other groups curated by the Apple News editors, who vet each story in those groups for quality and accuracy.
