Learn how to use a trusted device to change your Apple Account password or a child’s Apple Account password.
Apple ID is now Apple Account. You can still sign in with the same email address or phone number and password.
The easiest and most secure way to change your Apple Account password is to use your iPhone or another trusted device — one on which you’ve already signed in to your Apple Account using two-factor authentication, so that we know it’s yours.
Open the Settings app, then tap [your name].
Tap Sign-In & Security.
Tap Change Password.

Follow the onscreen instructions to change your Apple Account password.
You might be required to wait one hour before changing your Apple Account password or other critical security settings. Learn more about Stolen Device Protection and when a security delay might be required.
Choose Apple menu , then System Settings.
Click [your name], then click Sign-In & Security.
Click Change Password.
Enter the password used to unlock your Mac. Then follow the onscreen instructions to change your Apple Account password.

The Apple Account website redirects you to a trusted device to manage your Apple Account, when possible. But if you don't have a trusted device, you might be able to change your Apple Account password on the web.
Go to account.apple.com and sign in to your Apple Account. Then go to Sign-In and Security and choose Password.
If you have an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro with the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or visionOS and two-factor authentication turned on for your Apple Account, you might be able to change the Apple Account password for a child account in your Family Sharing group. You can also change a child’s account password in Settings on their own device.
Tap Settings, then tap Family. Choose your child’s account.
Tap Apple Account & Password.
Tap Change [Child’s Name] Password.
Follow the onscreen instructions to change the Apple Account password of the child account.
