Change the name of a Bluetooth accessory

The name of your connected Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, trackpad, game controller, or other accessory appears in Bluetooth settings and menus on your Apple device. To personalize that name or remove personal information from it, you can rename it.

Rename a Bluetooth accessory on iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro

  1. Open Settings, then tap Bluetooth.

  2. In the My Devices section of Bluetooth settings, make sure that your Bluetooth accessory shows as connected. If it’s not connected, learn how to connect a Bluetooth accessory to iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro.

  3. Tap the More Info button next to the connected accessory’s name.

  4. Tap Name, then enter a new name.

Rename a Bluetooth accessory on Mac

  1. From the Apple menu , choose System Settings (or System Preferences), then click Bluetooth.

  2. In the My Devices section of Bluetooth settings, make sure that your Bluetooth accessory shows as connected. If it’s not connected, learn how to connect a Bluetooth accessory to Mac.

  3. If your Mac is using macOS Ventura 13 or later, click the More Info button next to the connected accessory’s name, then click Name and enter a new name. If using an earlier version of macOS, Control-click the connected accessory’s name, choose Rename, then enter a new name.

  1. Open Settings, select Remotes and Devices, then select Bluetooth.

  2. In the My Devices section of Bluetooth settings, make sure that your Bluetooth accessory shows as connected. If it’s not connected, learn how to connect a Bluetooth accessory to Apple TV.

  3. Select Rename Device, then enter a new name.
