Turn off explicit content in Apple Music on Android

Turn on Content Restrictions to restrict access to explicit music and specific ratings of video content in the Apple Music app.

  1. Open the Apple Music app on your Android device.
  2. From the bottom of the screen, tap Library, For You, Browse, or Radio.
  3. At the top of the screen, tap the menu button the Sort Options button, then tap Settings.
  4. Scroll to the Restrictions section, then tap Content Restrictions.
  5. Enter a four-digit passcode, then enter it again to confirm it.
Entering a passcode prevents anyone from making changes to this setting without your approval. Make sure that you remember your passcode because you must enter it when you want to change your content restrictions in the future. If you can’t remember your passcode, there's no way to recover it. To make changes, you have to delete Apple Music from your device, then reinstall it.
  6. Tap Enable Content Restrictions to turn it on. Then select the restrictions that you want:
    • Tap Music to turn off access to explicit content.
    • Tap Movies to select which ratings you want to allow access to or turn off access to movies entirely.
    • Tap TV Shows to select which ratings you want to allow access to or turn off access to TV shows entirely.
    • Tap Profiles to turn off access to the profiles of other Apple Music users.

After you set Content Restrictions, songs and albums that are marked as explicit content or video content with restricted ratings might show up in search results or one of the tabs in Apple Music, but you can't play them. Radio will also play only clean versions of songs.

You must set Content Restrictions on every device on which you want to limit access to content. The settings don't sync across devices.
