Gather and use iTunes Diagnostics in iTunes for Windows

iTunes for Windows includes iTunes Diagnostics. Use the app to identify a variety of issues.

iTunes Diagnostics gathers and displays information about your computer, but it doesn't fix issues. Use the information iTunes Diagnostics provides to identify issues. Then, use the articles listed in iTunes Diagnostics or the Learn More section below, or get more help from an Apple Advisor, to fix the issue.

Run iTunes Diagnostics

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.

  2. Open iTunes.

  3. From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Help > Run Diagnostics.

  4. Choose one or all of the available tests, and click Next.

  5. Run the tests. After you finish each test, you might see links to support articles that can help you resolve the issues.

Save your results

When the tests finish, you see a summary of the results.

  • To copy the summary to use in a different program, click "Copy to Clipboard." You can then paste the summary in a different program or a text editor.

  • To save the summary to your computer, click Save. Files named "iTunes Diagnostics.rtf" and "iTunes Diagnostics.spx" save to your computer. You can view the RTF file with a text editor and share both files with an Apple Advisor.
