MacBook Air (13-inch, M5) Lid Angle Sensor
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (blue, 0.65 kgf cm)
Torx Plus 1IP 44 mm half-moon bit
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Important
If you replace this part, it’s recommended to run Repair Assistant in order to finish the repair. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Lift the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable off the connector.

Loosen the adhesive and peel the lid angle sensor flex cable from the audio jack.
Note: Use the black stick as needed to disengage the adhesive between the lid angle sensor flex cable and the top case.

Use the blue torque driver and 1IP bit to remove one 1IP screw (923-12568) from the lid angle sensor.

Remove the lid angle sensor from the top case.

Reassembly
Place the lid angle sensor into the top case.

Position the clip on the lid angle sensor flex cable so the tab and screw hole on the clip are aligned with the tab slot and screw hole on the hinge cover. Use the blue torque driver and 1IP bit to reinstall the 1IP screw (923-12568) into the lid angle sensor.


Press the end of the lid angle sensor flex cable to the connector.

Gently press the lid angle sensor flex cable to adhere it to the top case.
Important: If you’re installing a replacement lid angle sensor flex cable, peel off the adhesive backing first.
