If you can't view a home

If you can't view a home that you set up or were invited to in the Home app, update to the latest version of Apple Home. If you still can't view a home, learn what to do.

Update Apple Home

Update any homes that you set up to the latest version of Apple Home.* If you didn’t set up a home, ask the owner of the home to update.

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

  2. Tap or click the More button.

  3. Select Home Settings. If you own multiple homes, choose one, then select Home Settings.

  4. Select Software Update.

  5. Tap or click Update Now, then follow the prompts. All of the homes that you own are updated at the same time.

"This home and all accessories are up to date" appears on the Software Update screen after you update.

If the home owner can't update or chooses not to, you can leave a shared home that you no longer need access to.

* iPad is not supported as a home hub on the latest version of Apple Home.

If homes are already updated

  1. Update your device. Any device that is not running iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, or watchOS 9.2 or later will lose access to an updated home until the device is updated.

  2. Go to Settings (System Settings on Mac) > [your name] > iCloud. Under Saved to iCloud, tap Passwords, then tap Sync this [Device] to turn on iCloud Passwords and Keychain.

  3. Go to Settings (System Settings on Mac) > [your name] > Sign-In & Security, and turn on Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Tap or click the More button to check if you have more than one home. If a home doesn't have accessories, remove it from the Home app. Select Home SettingsNo alt supplied for Image, then scroll down and select Remove Home.

If you still can't access a home, contact Apple Support.
