iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021, Four ports) USB-C Boards
Before You Begin
Remove the following part before you begin:
Tools
- Nylon probe (black stick) 
- Support wedges 
- Torx T3 screwdriver 

Removal
Note: The following steps describe how to remove both USB-C boards. However, you can remove one USB-C board at a time.
- Peel off the polyester film tape from the USB-C boards. Save it for reassembly.  
- Use the T3 screwdriver to remove the two T3 screws (923-05555) from each USB-C board.  
- Flip up the USB-C boards to access the USB-C board cowlings. - Caution: Ensure that the USB-C boards don’t touch the adapter board. 
  
- Use the T3 screwdriver to remove the two T3 screws (923-05562) from each cowling. Then remove the right cowling and save it for reassembly.  
- Gently move the left cowling and speaker cable out of the way to access the left USB-C board connector. - Note: - The speaker cable is routed through the left USB-C board cowling and is secured with tape. 
- The image shows the cowling screws and right cowling installed, but they were removed in the previous step. 
 
- Caution: Ensure that the USB-C boards don’t touch the adapter board. 
  
- Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the ends of the USB-C board flex cables off the connectors on the adapter board.  
- Remove the USB-C boards from the housing. 
Reassembly
- Position the USB-C boards over the connectors. Then press the ends of the USB-C board flex cables to the connectors on the adapter board. - Caution: Ensure that the USB-C boards don’t touch the adapter board.  
 
- Position the USB-C board cowlings over the connectors. 
- Use the T3 screwdriver to reinstall the two T3 screws (923-05562) into each cowling.  
- Flip down the USB-C boards. Ensure that they are aligned with the screw holes. 
- Use the T3 screwdriver to reinstall the two T3 screws (923-05555) into each USB-C board as shown.  
- Reinstall the polyester film tape over the USB-C boards. - Note: If you’re installing a replacement USB-C board, use the included replacement polyester film tape instead of the existing polyester film tape.
