About converting an Apple Account to a child account
If a child or teen is using an Apple Account with a birthday accidentally set to an adult age, they might get a prompt to convert to a child account.
In order to convert an existing account to a child account, that account:
Can’t be the organizer or parent/guardian of a Family Sharing group
Will need to join a Family Sharing group, if prompted
If your account is accidentally converted to a child account
If your Apple Account is accidentally converted to a child account, you can undo the change. If you’re part of a Family Sharing group, you might need the family organizer to help if it’s been longer than 15 days since the change was made.
Sign in to account.apple.com.
Select Personal Information, then choose Birthday.
Update your birthday and then click Save.
On the message that appears, look for an option to Revert Account.
If you don’t see an option to Revert Account, click Request Update.
The Family Sharing organizer receives an email notification. If it’s been more than 15 days, the family organizer must review your request using the link in the email, then follow the onscreen steps.
