Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Crosshead 44 mm half-moon bit
Crosshead 50 mm bit
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (orange, 0.85 kgf cm)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Important
Remove the back glass. Then continue to step 1.
Use a torque driver and crosshead bit to remove the four crosshead screws. Then complete the entire step.
Caution: Don’t damage the grounding spring on the cowling.
Remove the Taptic Engine connector cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the end of the Taptic Engine flex cable off the connector.
Remove the Taptic Engine from the enclosure.
Reassembly

Position the Taptic Engine in the enclosure.
Press the end of the Taptic Engine flex cable to the connector.
Position the Taptic Engine connector cowling over the end of the flex cable.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 16 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-13870) (1) into the Taptic Engine connector cowling.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 13 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install two new crosshead screws into the Taptic Engine.

Use the orange torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-13754) into the Taptic Engine connector cowling.
Reinstall the following part to complete reassembly:
