Log your blood pressure in the Health app
You can log your blood pressure in the Health app to help monitor your hypertension or aid in assessing your hypertension risk with your doctor.
Here's what you need
An iPhone 11 or later with the latest version of iOS.
A blood pressure cuff.
Choose a blood pressure cuff
Automatic blood pressure cuffs that fit around your upper arm provide the most accurate measurements. Consult with your healthcare provider for personalized recommendations, but here's what to consider when purchasing a blood pressure cuff:
Choose a cuff that is an appropriate size for your upper arm. A cuff that is too small or too large will result in inaccurate readings. If your arm circumference is between sizes, it's generally better to choose a larger cuff.
Consider recommendations from relevant medical societies in your country or region.
Research brands known for producing reliable, health-focused products, and purchase your cuff from a pharmacy, medical supply store, or other reputable retailer.
Set up a blood pressure log
On your iPhone, open the Health app.
, then tap Heart.
Under Blood Pressure Log, tap Get Started.
Follow the onscreen prompts to indicate you have access to a blood pressure cuff and learn how to take an accurate measurement.
Select your reason for logging your blood pressure:
Learn About My Risk for Hypertension: Select this to log 7 days of morning and evening measurements which are used in a report you can share with your doctor to assess your risk for hypertension. If you are setting up a log from a Possible Hypertension notification, this option is selected automatically, and you are prompted to schedule reminders.
Monitor My Hypertension: Select this to log daily measurements for 4 weeks to help you and your doctor understand what impacts your condition.
Tap Next.
Schedule a reminder to take your blood pressure, then tap Next.
Tap Done.
Log your blood pressure
On your iPhone, open the Health app.
, then tap Heart.
Tap Blood Pressure, then tap Add a Measurement.
Enter the Date, Time, Systolic, and Diastolic, then tap Add.
View your blood pressure log
On your iPhone, open the Health app.
, then tap Heart.
Tap Blood Pressure.
If you're learning about your risk for hypertension, the log completes when you have a total of 7 wake-up and 7 bedtime measurements. If 7 wake-up and 7 bedtime measurements haven't been recorded after 6 months, the log closes automatically. If you're monitoring your hypertension, the log completes when you have one measurement each day for 28 days.
Depending on your location, or if you have an active pregnancy logged in the Health app, the Blood Pressure Log uses classifications from the following organizations for your average blood pressure measurements:
American Heart Association (AHA)
European Society of Cardiology (ESC)
International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO)
The Blood Pressure Log is a separate feature, and logged blood pressure values do not influence the Hypertension Notification feature in any way. Once you've completed your log, you can tap Export PDF to share a PDF of your measurements with your doctor.
