MacBook Neo Battery Foam
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Battery cover
ESD-safe tweezers
Ethanol wipes or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes
Nylon probe (black stick)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Important
This procedure shows one battery foam piece being removed and installed, but the procedure applies to any damaged foam.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Rest the battery cover on top of the battery.

Use ESD-safe tweezers to remove any damaged battery foam from the battery tray.

Use an ethanol wipe or IPA wipe to clean any residual adhesive off the battery tray.
Important: Inspect the bottom side of the battery tray for residual adhesive as well.

Ensure that the area under the removed foam is clean and free of debris.
Reassembly
Use ESD-safe tweezers to remove a piece of battery foam from the liner.

Position the battery foam on the battery tray as shown.
Align the outer edge of the foam with the the outer edge of the battery tray.
Center the foam between the screw holes on the battery tray.

Press on the battery foam for 5 seconds to adhere it to the battery tray.
