Use the Radeon Pro W6600X MPX Module with your Mac Pro (2019)
Learn about the many different display setups you can use with your Radeon Pro W6600X MPX module on your Mac Pro (2019).
The Radeon Pro W6600X MPX Module contains an AMD Radeon Pro W6600X graphics processing unit (GPU) with 8GB of GDDR6 memory and two HDMI ports. When you use the Radeon Pro W6600X with your Mac Pro, you can also use the Thunderbolt 3 ports on the top* and rear of your Mac Pro to connect additional displays.
Connect displays using your Radeon Pro W6600X
You can connect up to 5 displays using the Thunderbolt ports on your Mac and the HDMI ports on your MPX module.
If you connect one display to the HDMI port
If you connect one 4K display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz to the left HDMI port on your MPX module, you can connect up to four additional displays in these configurations:
Two Pro Display XDRs with resolutions of 6016 x 3384 at 60Hz connected to the Thunderbolt 3 ports on your Mac. Connect one display to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the top* of your Mac and the other display to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the rear (Apple I/O card) of your Mac.
Two 5K displays with resolutions of 5120 x 2880 at 60Hz connected to the Thunderbolt 3 ports on your Mac. Connect one display to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the top* of your Mac and the other display to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the rear (Apple I/O card) of your Mac.
Four 4K displays with resolutions of 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz connected via Thunderbolt 3.
If you connect two displays to the HDMI ports
If you connect two 4K displays with resolutions of 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz to both HDMI ports on your MPX module, you can connect up to two additional displays in these configurations:
One Pro Display XDR with a resolution of 6016 x 3384 at 60Hz connected to the Thunderbolt 3 ports on your Mac. Connect the display to any of the Thunderbolt 3 ports on your Mac.
One 5K display with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 at 60Hz connected via Thunderbolt 3. Connect the display to any of the Thunderbolt 3 ports on your Mac.
Two 4K displays with resolutions of 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz connected via Thunderbolt 3. Connect one 4K display to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the top* of your Mac and the second 4K display to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the rear (Apple I/O card) of your Mac.
