Choose settings in the Print dialog on Mac
After you choose File > Print, the Print dialog appears so you can select a printer and set print options. The Print dialog shows different options depending on your printer and the app you’re using. If you see a Show Details button, click it to show more print options.

Printer pop-up menu
Choose the printer you want to use. If you don’t see the printer you want, choose Add Printer, then follow the onscreen instructions to set up a printer.
You may see an icon next to a printer’s name. For information about the icons and their meanings, see Check a printer’s status.
Presets pop-up menu
Choose a group of print settings to save as a preset. You can then choose the preset from the pop-up menu to use the settings again for other print jobs. The menu shows either the current presets being used or the last used settings.
Specify the number of copies to print.
Specify printing all or a range of pages to print. To print a single page, enter the same number in both range boxes. For example, to print only the third page of a document, enter 3 in both range boxes.
Black & White
Print in black and white. This option appears only if your printer supports black and white printing.
Print on both sides of the paper (also called duplex printing or double-sided printing). This option appears only if your printer supports two-sided printing.
Paper Size pop-up menu
Specify the size of paper you’re using. Make sure the size of the paper you choose is loaded in the printer.
Choose to print a document in portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) orientation.
Print options pop-up menu
Choose settings for paper handling, page layout, media type, and more. The options in this pop-up menu, and the options that appear below it, change depending on your printer and the app you’re using.
PDF pop-up menu
Create a PDF or PostScript file. For information about creating a PDF, see Save a document as a PDF.
Show Details/Hide Details
Display all print options or a simplified view of commonly used options.
