If spatial photos appear as regular photos on Apple Vision Pro

Spatial photos that you take on iPhone may appear flat or two-dimensional when you view them on Apple Vision Pro with a previous version of visionOS. Update to visionOS 2 to make sure your spatial photos appear in 3D.

Update to visionOS 2

  1. Back up your Vision Pro.

  2. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. The screen will show the currently installed version of visionOS and whether an update is available.

  3. If an update is available, tap Download and Install or Install Now. You may need to enter your Vision Pro passcode.

  4. When the update is ready to be installed, an alert will ask you to take off your Vision Pro. You can see the progress of the update on the front of your device with EyeSight.

Check the spatial button

After you’ve updated to visionOS 2, photos you’ve taken in spatial format should open in 3D in the Photos app. If a spatial photo still appears two-dimensional, toggle the photo’s spatial buttonnull. When the button is white, the spatial photo will appear in 3D.

Share spatial photos via AirDrop

If you’re unable to update to visionOS 2 straight away, a temporary workaround is to share spatial photos from your iPhone to your Vision Pro using AirDrop.
