Charge your Beats Pill

Your Beats Pill can play for up to 24 hours with a full charge.* When you turn your Beats Pill on or off, the light will flash white if the battery is charged to at least 10 per cent of its full capacity, or red if the battery is charged to less than 10 per cent.

Plug your Beats Pill into a power source using a USB-C cable.

  • As your Beats Pill charges, the light will shine green.

  • When charging has completed, the light will shine white for 10 seconds, then turn off.

Plug the USB-C cable into your Beats Pill and plug the other end of the cable into a power source.

Use your Beats Pill to charge your other devices

You can use the Charge Out feature on your Beats Pill to charge your other devices, such as your phone, your earphones or your laptop.

To charge another device:

  1. Plug one end of the USB-C cable into your Beats Pill.

  2. Plug the other end of the USB-C cable into your other device.

If you want to use your device to charge your Beats Pill instead, press the power button on your Beats Pill three times.

Pair your Beats Pill

Pair your Beats Pill with an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch

  1. Make sure your Beats Pill is charged.

  2. Press the power button on your Beats Pill to turn it on. The light next to the power button will pulse to indicate that the Beats Pill is in discovery mode, ready to be paired. If it doesn’t pulse, hold down the power button for three seconds to enter discovery mode.

  3. On your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

  4. Select your Beats Pill from the list of Bluetooth devices.

Pair your Beats Pill with an Android device:

  1. Make sure your Beats Pill is charged.

  2. Press the power button on your Beats Pill to turn it on. The light next to the power button will pulse to indicate that the Beats Pill is in discovery mode, ready to be paired. If it doesn’t pulse, hold down the power button for three seconds to enter discovery mode.

  3. On your Android device, go to Bluetooth settings and make sure that Bluetooth is turned on.

  4. Select your Beats Pill from the list of Bluetooth devices.

Pair your Beats Pill with a Mac:

  1. Make sure your Beats Pill is charged.

  2. Press the power button on your Beats Pill to turn it on. The light next to the power button will pulse to indicate that the Beats Pill is in discovery mode, ready to be paired. If it doesn’t pulse, hold down the power button for three seconds to enter discovery mode.

  3. On your Mac device, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Bluetooth in the sidebar.

  4. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

  5. Select your Beats Pill from the list of Bluetooth devices.

Use your Beats Pill

You can use the buttons on your Beats Pill to play music, change the volume, answer phone calls and more.

Play music

  • To play or pause audio, press the centre button once.

  • To skip to the next track, press the centre button twice.

  • To listen to the previous track, press the centre button three times.

Use the centre button to play music with your Beats Pill.

Change the volume

  • To turn up the volume, press the volume up button once.

  • To turn down the volume, press the volume down button once.

  • To turn up the volume continuously, press and hold the volume up button.

  • To turn down the volume continuously, press and hold the volume down button.

Use volume buttons on the Beats Pill to adjust the volume.

Answer phone calls

To answer phone calls with your Beats Pill, pair your Pill with your phone.

  • To answer incoming calls, press the centre button once.

  • Press the centre button once or twice to end a call, depending on your settings.

  • To transfer the audio of a phone call from your phone to your Beats Pill, press the centre button twice.

  • To answer a second call and place the first call on hold, press the centre button. Press it again to switch between calls.

  • To decline an incoming call, press the centre button twice.

Listen with USB-C audio

You can connect your Beats Pill and another USB-C device, such as an iPhone, iPad or Mac, with a USB-C to USB-C cable to listen to music, including lossless audio.

  • To listen to audio on Beats Pill with a USB-C wired connection, hold the power button while plugging in your Beats Pill to another USB-C source.

  • When you unplug your Beats Pill, the speaker will turn off automatically.

* Testing conducted by Apple in April 2024 using pre-production Beats Pill units and software paired with iPhone 15 Pro units and pre-release software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256 Kbps AAC encoding). Volume was set to 50%. Testing consisted of full Beats Pill battery discharge while playing audio until Beats Pill stopped playback. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage and many other factors.
