Set up and use your Beats Solo Buds

You can listen to music, make phone calls, use Siri and more with your Beats Solo Buds.

Pair your Beats Solo Buds

Find out how to pair your Beats Solo Buds with your device.

Pair with your iPhone or iPad

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Place your Beats Solo Buds earbuds in the case.

  3. With the case lid open, hold your Beats Solo Buds next to your unlocked iPhone or iPad.

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions. If you can’t see any instructions, follow the steps to pair your Beats Solo Buds with another device.

Pair with an Android device

Pair your Beats Solo Buds using the Beats app for Android.

Pair with your Mac or with another device that uses Bluetooth

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your Mac or other device.

  2. Place your Beats Solo Buds earbuds in the case.

  3. With the case lid open, hold your Beats Solo Buds next to your Mac or other device.

  4. Press and hold the “b” button on either earbud until a tone plays three times.

  5. Open the Bluetooth menu on your Mac or other device. For example, on your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Bluetooth.

  6. In the list of discovered Bluetooth devices, tap or click your Beats Solo Buds.

Use your Beats Solo Buds

Play music

To control your music, you can use the “b” button on either earbud:

  • To pause or play audio, press the "b" button once.

  • To skip to the next track, press the "b" button twice.

  • To listen to the previous track, press the "b" button three times.

Change the volume

If you want to change the volume, you can say “Siri” or “Hey Siri”, then say something like “Turn down the volume”. Or drag the volume slider in the app you're listening to, on the Lock Screen or in the Control Centre. You can also open Now Playing on your Apple Watch and turn the Digital Crown to adjust the volume.

Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area.

Answer phone calls

To control phone calls, use the “b” button on either earbud:

  • Press once to answer a call.

  • Press once or twice to end a call, depending on your settings.

  • Press once or twice to mute or unmute the microphone, depending on your settings.

  • Press once to answer a second incoming call and put the first call on hold. When two calls are active, this switches between calls.

  • Press twice to reject an incoming call.

To change your settings on iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth, then tap your earphones.

Ask Siri

If you’ve set up Siri on your iPhone already, Siri will be ready to use with your Beats Solo Buds. If you haven’t set up Siri, you’ll be guided through the setup.

To activate Siri, you can say “Siri”, or press and hold the “b” button on either earbud. When you hear a chime, say what you need. Learn what to do if Siri isn’t working.

Charge your Beats Solo Buds

Your earbuds each provide up to 18 hours of playback.1 With Fast Fuel, you can get up to one hour of playback after you’ve charged for five minutes.2

To charge your Beats Solo Buds:

  1. Place your earbuds in the case.

  2. Connect the case to a power source with a USB-C cable.

If you can’t charge your Beats Solo Buds, use another power source or a different cable, or reset your Beats Solo Buds.

Check the battery level of your Beats Solo Buds

On your iPhone or iPad

  1. Make sure your Beats Solo Buds are turned on and paired with your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Place your earbuds in the case, and keep the case lid open.

  3. Hold your earbuds and case within 5 cm of your unlocked iPhone or iPad. On your iPhone or iPad, a card will appear that shows the battery level of your Beats Solo Buds.

On your Mac

  1. With your Beats Solo Buds in your ears and connected to your Mac, click the Bluetooth menu button in the top right-hand corner of your Mac.

  2. To see the battery level of your earbuds, select Beats Solo Buds.

On your Android device

Open the Beats app for Android to see the battery level of your earbuds.

  1. Testing conducted by Apple in April 2024 using pre-production Beats Solo Buds units and software paired with iPhone 15 Pro units and pre-release software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256 Kbps AAC encoding). Volume was set to 50%. Testing consisted of full Beats Solo Buds battery discharge while playing audio until the first unit of Beats Solo Buds stopped playback. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage and many other factors.

  2. Testing conducted by Apple in April 2024 using pre-production Beats Solo Buds units and software paired with iPhone 15 Pro units and pre-release software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256 Kbps AAC encoding). Volume was set to 50% and Active Noise Cancelling and Transparency were turned off. Five-minute charge testing conducted with drained Beats Solo Buds that were charged for five minutes, then audio playback was started until the first Beats Solo Buds stopped playback. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage and many other factors.
