Update visionOS on your Apple Vision Pro
Find out how to update your Apple Vision Pro to the latest version of visionOS.
You can set up your Apple Vision Pro to update automatically or you can check for updates manually.
How to update visionOS automatically
Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates.
Turn on visionOS Updates.
Turn on Security Responses & System Files to automatically install security updates that may be available between complete visionOS updates. You can turn this option on in addition to visionOS Updates or turn it on by itself.
If you’d like visionOS updates to be downloaded automatically but only be installed when you choose them to be, turn on visionOS Updates under Automatically Download. Then turn off visionOS Updates under Automatically Install.
Automatic visionOS software updates will be downloaded and installed when your Apple Vision Pro is connected to Wi-Fi, is being charged and is locked.
How to check for visionOS updates manually
Back up your Apple Vision Pro.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update. The screen will show the currently installed version of visionOS and whether an update is available.
If an update is available, tap Download and Install or Install Now. You may need to enter your Apple Vision Pro passcode.
When the update is ready to be installed, an alert will ask you to take off your Apple Vision Pro. You can see the progress of the update on the front of your device with EyeSight.
Your Apple Vision Pro will need to have a sufficient amount of charge or be connected to a power source for your device to be updated. An alert will let you know if you need to charge your battery first.
If your Apple Vision Pro can’t be updated
Go to Settings > Storage and check your available storage space. If there isn’t enough space to download and install an update, the software on your Apple Vision Pro will try to make space. It will only remove app data that it can download again and it won’t remove or relocate any of your data. If your device still doesn’t have enough space, you can remove content and apps you don’t use.
Check your internet connection. The time it takes to download an update will vary depending on the size of the update and your internet speed. You can use your Apple Vision Pro as normal while you’re downloading the update. Your device will notify you when you it can installed. To improve the speed of the download, avoid downloading other content at the same time.
If you still can’t install the latest version of visionOS, try deleting and downloading the update again:
Go to Settings > Storage.
Find the update in the list of apps.
Tap the update, then tap Delete Update.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update and try updating again.
