File limitations for Pages, Numbers and Keynote on iCloud.com

  • You can add GIF, JPEG and PNG images up to 50 MB each. To add larger images, use Pages, Numbers and Keynote from your Mac, iPhone or iPad. Then, you can view the images in your documents on iCloud.com.

  • You can paste about 2 million characters into a document at a time.

  • You can create as many sheets in a Numbers spreadsheet as you want. Each table can have up to 255 columns, 65,535 rows and about 130,000 cells with data. You can view spreadsheets that have tables with more rows and columns, but you can't edit them.

  • You can change up to 100,000 cells at the same time.

  • Up to 100 people can view and edit shared documents at the same time.

  • You can view documents with vertical text, but you can't edit them.

Feature differences in Pages on iCloud.com

These features in Pages on iCloud.com differ from features in Pages on your Mac, iPhone or iPad:

  • If you track changes in a Pages document, you can open the document with Pages on iCloud.com, but you won't be able to edit it. If you own the document, you can turn off Track Changes when you open it in Pages for Mac, iPhone or iPad. Find out more about change tracking.

  • 3D charts will appear as 2D charts.

  • While editing a file that has a 3D object, the 3D object will appear as a static image, the Play, Pause and Rotate options will not appear, and limited inspector options will appear.

  • You can view but not edit, equations, chart leader lines and conditional highlighting rules.

  • Gradient text fills and image text fills will appear as solid colours.

  • Non-solid text outlines will appear as solid outlines.

  • Curved shadows and contact shadows will appear as drop shadows.

  • You can't copy and paste pages or sections.

  • You can't edit page templates, change templates for a page or reapply a template to a page.

  • You can't add or play embedded web videos.

  • Mail merge is not available in Pages on iCloud.com. If you open a document that contains mail merge fields, note these differences:

    • Merge field highlighting will not display by default.

    • If you click on merge field text, merge field highlighting will display for that field.

    • Merge field text can be deleted as an entire block.

  • Updates about participant activity in collaborative documents on iCloud.com can only be viewed by participants using Pages on Mac, iPad or iPhone.

  • You can open a document with an SVG file and view it, but you can’t open the SVG file to edit it in another app.

Feature differences in Numbers on iCloud.com

These features in Numbers on iCloud.com differ from features in Numbers on your Mac, iPhone or iPad:

  • Forms in a Numbers for iPhone or iPad spreadsheet will be hidden when you open the spreadsheet in Numbers on iCloud.com.

  • In Numbers on iCloud.com, you can edit a table linked to a form and your edits will appear in the form when you open the spreadsheet in Numbers for iPhone or iPad.

  • If you delete a table linked to a form in Numbers on iCloud.com, the form will be cleared. If you merge cells in a table linked to a form, the form may be cleared.

  • 3D charts will appear as 2D charts.

  • While editing a file that has a 3D object, the 3D object will appear as a static image, the Play, Pause and Rotate options will not appear, and limited inspector options will appear.

  • You can view but not edit, equations, chart leader lines and conditional highlighting rules.

  • Gradient text fills and image text fills will appear as solid colours.

  • Non-solid text outlines will appear as solid outlines.

  • Curved shadows and contact shadows will appear as drop shadows.

  • You can't add or play embedded web videos.

Feature differences in Keynote on iCloud.com

These features in Keynote on iCloud.com differ from the features in Keynote on your Mac, iPhone or iPad:

  • You can't view or edit action builds, but they will remain in the presentation and be visible and editable on your Mac, iPhone or iPad.

  • Transitions and builds that aren't supported in Keynote on iCloud.com will appear as Dissolve. The original transitions will remain in the document and be visible and editable in Keynote for Mac, iPhone or iPad.

  • The soundtrack (audio set to play for the duration of a slideshow) will not play on iCloud.com. The soundtrack will remain in the document and play in Keynote for Mac, iPhone or iPad.

  • Recorded audio (voiceover narration) will not play on iCloud.com. It will remain in the document and play in Keynote for Mac, iPhone or iPad. Editing your document in Keynote on iCloud.com may make the recording out of sync with the slideshow.

  • The settings to automatically play a slideshow when opened and restart a slideshow on idle will be ignored.

  • 3D charts will appear as 2D charts.

  • While editing a file that has a 3D object, the 3D object will appear as a static image, the Play, Pause and Rotate options will not appear, and limited inspector options will appear.

  • When playing a presentation, 3D objects will appear as 2D objects and animations will follow the standards for 2D objects.

  • You can view but not edit, equations, chart leader lines and conditional highlighting rules.

  • Gradient text fills and image text fills will appear as solid colours.

  • Non-solid text outlines will appear as solid outlines.

  • Curved shadows and contact shadows will appear as drop shadows.

  • You can't edit slide layouts, change layouts for a slide or reapply a layout to a slide.

  • Videos and audio will not play during the transition from one slide to the next.

  • You can't use outline view.

  • You can't add a new live video object, but you can edit existing live video objects.

  • If you have a live video object in your presentation, it won't access your camera or devices when presenting.

  • Dynamic backgrounds don't play and appear as static images.

  • Updates about participant activity in collaborative presentations on iCloud.com can only be viewed by participants using Keynote on Mac, iPad or iPhone.

  • You can open a presentation with an SVG file and view it, but you can’t open the SVG file to edit it in another app.
