iMac (24-inch, 2024, Two ports) Adapter Board

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Support wedge kit

  • Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm bit

  • Torx Plus 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

  1. Position the housing with the logic board facing up.

  2. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 3IP 25 mm bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-11034) from the low-speed flex cable to adapter board connector cowling. Then remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the end of the low-speed flex cable off the connector.

  4. Use ESD-safe tweezers to peel off the polyester film tab from the right speaker connector.

  5. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the end of the right speaker cable off the connector.

  6. Pull the tab to flip up the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (1). Then slide the end of the high-speed flex cable out of the connector (2).

  7. Use the black stick to loosen the adhesive between the high speed flex cable and the adapter board.

  8. Use the teal torque driver and 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit to remove the four 3IP screws (923-11036) from the adapter board.

  9. Place the flat end of the black stick between the adapter board and housing as shown. Then use the flat end of the black stick to lift the adapter board out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Position the adapter board in the housing.

    • Caution: Ensure that no cables are trapped under the adapter board.

  2. Use the teal torque driver and 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit to reinstall the four 3IP screws (923-11036) into the adapter board.

  3. Press the end of the low-speed flex cable to the connector on the adapter board.

    •  Caution: Don’t bend the connectors.

  4. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm.

  5. Position the low-speed flex cable to adapter board connector cowling over the connector. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP 25 mm bit to install the two 3IP screws (923-11034) into the cowling.

  6. Slide the end of the high-speed flex cable into the connector (1). Then flip down the locking bar on the high-speed flex cable (2).

  7. Press the high-speed flex cable to adhere it to the adapter board.

  8. Press the end of the right speaker cable to the connector on the adapter board.

  9. Press the polyester film tab onto the right speaker connector as shown.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
