Mac mini (2024) Logic Board

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • Adjustable torque driver (0.3–1.2 Nm)

  • Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit

  • Torx Plus 8IP 89 mm bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

  Caution

This procedure requires System Configuration. After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, learn how to initiate the System Configuration process.

Removal

Note: You can remove the logic board with the SSD module installed.

  1. Use the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to remove the three 8IP screws from the logic board.

  2. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the two 5IP screws (923-11051) from the bus bar.

  3. Hold the heat sink and gently slide the logic board toward the front of the housing until the rear USB-C boards, HDMI board, and Ethernet board clear the edge of the housing.

    • Note: The busbar alignment pins should release from the holes in the logic board as you slide the logic board toward the front of the housing.

  4. Lift the logic board as shown (1), then rotate the logic board (2) to access the power supply connector under the logic board.

    • Caution: The power supply cable is still connected to the logic board. Don't damage the power supply cable while rotating the logic board out of the housing.

  5. Slide the end of the power supply cable out of the connector on the logic board.

  6. Lift the logic board out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Slide the end of the power supply cable into the connector on the logic board.

  2. Rotate the logic board to align with the housing (1), then lower the logic board into the housing as shown (2).

  3. Hold the heat sink and gently slide the logic board toward the rear of the housing until the rear USB-C boards, HDMI board, and ethernet board align with the openings in the rear of the housing.

  4. Make sure the busbar alignment pins are inserted in the openings in the logic board as shown. If the pins are not inserted in the holes, gently move the logic board until the pins are inserted.

  5. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 12.5 Ncm.

  6. Use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the two 5IP screws (923-11051) into the busbar.

  7. Set the torque value on the 0.3–1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver to 0.65 Nm.

  8. Use the adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to reinstall the three 8IP screws into the logic board.
