If Photomator for iPhone or iPad isn't working
If Photomator for iPhone or iPad isn’t working as you expect but you don't know the cause, you can isolate the issue to identify the root cause.
Back up your device
Before you start troubleshooting, back up your iPhone or iPad.
Try these steps in order
After trying each step, test Photomator again to see if you've fixed your issue.
Restart your device
Disconnect external devices
If an external device like a camera, external battery, or storage device is connected to your device, disconnect or remove it:
Disconnect or remove all external devices.
Turn your device on.
If you have more than one external device connected to your iPhone or iPad, reconnect devices one-at-a-time, testing Photomator after you connect each device.
If the issue only occurs when a particular external device is connected, you might need to update or service the device. Contact the manufacturer for support.
Check system requirements
To check which version of iOS or iPad OS you have, open Settings on your device, then go to General > About. If you don't have iOS 17 or iPad OS 17 or later, update your device. You might have to update other apps on your device after you update your device.
Make sure the app is working as expected
Check the Photomator User Guide to make sure the app is working as expected. You can search the user guide for key terms shown in alerts, menus or error messages.
Update Photomator
Check the App Store to see if an update for Photomator is available.
Open the App Store on your device.
Go to the App Store app on your iPhone.
Tap the
or your picture at the top right.Tap Apps, then tap My Apps,
Locate Photomator in the list, then tap Update. If Open appears, then Photomator is up to date. If Photomator doesn't appear, then you might have to sign into the Apple Account that you used to purchase or subscribe to the app.
Check third-party software compatibility
Note all the third-party apps you're using on your device, which can include other image editing apps, and utilities, security, antivirus, and malware software. Contact the developers to make sure their products are compatible with the version of iOS or iPadOS that you have.
Check media compatibility
Photomator supports all the most popular image formats, such as HEIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and WebP. Check your media's format to make sure it's compatible with Photomator:
Open the Photos app.
Tap the photo or video whose format you want to see, then swipe up or tap
button. The format of the file appears next to the name of device used to capture the image.
Photomator also supports 750 different RAW image formats. To process RAW images, Photomator uses the native RAW processing engine in iOS and iPadOS. Check that your version of iOS or iPadOS supports the RAW images taken by your camera:

Test with a new image
Take a screenshot on your device:
In Photomator, tap the thumbnail of the screenshot in the Photos browser. You might have to tap All Photos first it's not already selected.
Try to recreate your issue your issue using the screenshot.
If you can't reproduce the issue using your test media, the issue might be related to the source file you're using. Try to get a new copy of the source file.
Remove and redownload Photomator
When you delete and then redownload the Photomator app from your device, your images and edit files remain in place, but any custom presets are deleted and have to be restored after reinstalling the app.
Make a note of any custom presets that you've made in Photomator.
To delete Photomator:
Touch and hold the app.
Tap Remove App.
Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.
