Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use a torque driver and the Micro stix bit to remove the trilobe screw from the charge port assembly flex cable. Set aside the screw.
Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove three crosshead screws from the Taptic Engine connector cowling and one crosshead screw from the Taptic Engine. Set aside the screws. Remove the Taptic Engine connector cowling and save it for reassembly.
Lift the charge port assembly flex cable off the connector on the logic board (top). There are two flex cable connectors on top of the main microphone. Lift the ends of the main microphone flex cable (right) and the Taptic Engine flex cable (left) off of the connectors.
Note the alignment of the two flex cables on the main microphone for reassembly.
Lift the charge port assembly flex cable to the left to access a crosshead screw.
Caution: There is adhesive under the charge port assembly flex cable.
Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove one crosshead screw from the Taptic Engine. Set aside the screw.
Lift the Taptic Engine to separate it from the battery shim and then use the black stick to lift the Taptic Engine flex cable from the adhesive on the main microphone to remove it.
Reassembly
Note: A new Taptic Engine comes with adhesive already installed. If you're reinstalling the existing Taptic Engine, you must adhere new adhesive to the Taptic Engine (923-11950) and to the Taptic Engine flex cable (923-11951).

Position the Taptic Engine in the enclosure.
Use the orange torque driver and the fixed driver JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-11736) into the Taptic Engine. Use the green torque driver and the fixed driver JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-11129) into the Taptic Engine.
Note the positions of the flex cable connectors.
Position the Taptic Engine flex cable over the connector slightly higher than the charge port assembly connector. Press the end of the flex cable to the connector.
Remove the adhesive liner from the charge port assembly flex cable and the Taptic Engine. Press the end of the flex cable to the connector.
Position the top charge port assembly flex cable over the connector and press the end of the flex cable to the connector (1).
Ensure that the Taptic Engine flex cable and the charge port assembly flex cable are aligned correctly (2). The Taptic Engine flex connector should sit slightly higher than the main microphone flex connector.
Use the black torque driver and the Micro stix bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-11124) into the charge port assembly flex cable.
Position the Taptic Engine connector cowling over the Taptic Engine.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and the adjustable torque driver JCIS bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-11733) (1) into the Taptic Engine connector cowling. Use the orange torque driver and fixed driver JCIS bit to install two new crosshead screws into the Taptic Engine connector cowling:
One crosshead screw (923-11728) (2)
One crosshead screw (923-11721) (3)
