Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

iMac (24-inch, 2023, Two ports)

iMac (24-inch, 2023, Four ports)

Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

 Caution: Place the housing on a clean, flat surface or soft cloth to avoid scratching the housing.

The housing includes the following removable parts, which are available separately:

  • Ambient light sensor and microphone flex cable (923-09595)

  • Audio board (923-09606)

  • Audio board and power button flex cable (923-09597)

  • Battery board (923-09598) (Four ports only)

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna (923-09603)

  • Wi-Fi antenna (923-09605)

The housing includes the following nonremovable parts, which aren't available separately:

  • Display hangers

  • Speakers

  • Speaker back volumes

  • Center Wi-Fi antenna

  1. To remove the ambient light sensor (ALS) and microphone flex cable, gently release the adhesive between the flex cable and the enclosure.

    • Note: The following images show a different model, but the steps are the same for iMac (24-inch, 2023, Two ports).

  2. Use the flat end of the black stick to press and hold the “PUSH” button on the zero-insertion force (ZIF) ALS and microphone flex cable connector (1). Then slide the end of the flex cable out of the connector (2).

Reassembly

  1. To reinstall the ALS and microphone flex cable, slide the end of the flex cable into the connector.

  2. Press the flex cable to adhere it to the enclosure.

    • Important: Route the ALS and microphone flex cable under the audio board and power button flex cable.

    • Note: The following image shows iMac (24-inch, 2023, Four ports), but the steps are the same for iMac (24-inch, 2023, Two ports).

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:

iMac (24-inch, 2023, Four ports)
