Adopt preinstalled Pro Apps on your Mac
If you bought your Mac with Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, or the Pro Apps Bundle for Education preinstalled, make sure to "adopt" the apps to get critical updates and more.

Purchase preinstalled Pro Apps
You can purchase Pro Apps preinstalled on a Mac in two ways:
Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro can be preinstalled when purchasing a Mac at apple.com.
The Pro Apps Bundle for Education, which includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage, can be purchased preinstalled on a Mac from the Education Store at apple.com.
If you purchased the Pro Apps Bundle for Education as a standalone purchase, you'll receive content redemption codes via email to redeem in the Mac App Store.
Open preinstalled Pro Apps
When you get your Mac, the apps are already installed and can be found in the Applications folder.
To get features like updates, the ability to install the app on your other personal devices, and the ability to share the app with family members, make sure to adopt the app in the App Store as soon as you get your new Mac.
Adopt preinstalled Pro Apps
When you adopt preinstalled Pro Apps, you associate the apps with your Apple Account.
On your Mac, choose App Store from the Apple menu .
Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. If you don't see your name, click Sign In at the bottom of the sidebar, then sign in to the Apple Account that you to associate with your Pro Apps. The Pro Apps you purchased preinstalled should appear at the top of the Account page.
If you have any unadopted apps, the App Store shows an Accept button and a list of apps that you can accept. Click Accept. You might be asked to sign in again to your Apple Account.
After you accept the apps, click Updates in the sidebar to check for the latest versions of your apps.
If updates are available, click Update next to each app or click Update All.
If you can't update pre-installed Pro Apps
If the apps are installed on your Mac but you can't update them and an alert appears that says "Cannot update app. [app name] cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple Account," here's what to do:
On your Mac, choose App Store from the Apple menu .
Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. If you don't see your name, click Sign In at the bottom of the sidebar, then sign in to the Apple Account that you originally used to adopt your Pro App.
If you don’t see any preinstalled Pro Apps in the “Purchased by” section of the Account page:
Click Store in the menu bar, then choose Sign Out.
Sign back into the App Store with the Apple Account you used when you originally adopted the preinstalled apps.
Click Accept for any apps you haven't adopted yet. You might be asked to sign in again to your Apple Account.
After you accept the apps, click Updates to check for updates.
If you accepted the apps and you still see an error when you update, update macOS on your Mac.
If you can't find your preinstalled Pro Apps
Preinstalled apps should be available in the Applications folder. If you still you can't find the apps, download them:
On your Mac, choose App Store from the Apple menu .
Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. If you don't see your name, click Sign In at the bottom of the sidebar, then sign in to the Apple Account that you originally used to adopt your Pro App. You should see a message that you have a certain number of apps to adopt.
Click Accept. You might be asked to sign in again with your Apple ID.
Click the
next to the apps that you want to install.
