Quick Nav, Commanders category, VoiceOver Utility on Mac
Use the Quick Nav pane of the Commanders category in VoiceOver Utility to turn on and set options for Quick Nav, and assign VoiceOver commands for single-key Quick Nav to navigate with single keys (instead of key combinations).
To open VoiceOver Utility, press Command-F5 to turn VoiceOver on, then press VO-Fn-F8.
Note: VO represents the VoiceOver modifier. See Use the VoiceOver modifier.
Option | Description |

Enable arrow-key Quick Nav | Use arrow-key Quick Nav to navigate using only the arrow keys. To turn arrow-key Quick Nav on or off while working, press VO-Shift-Q. |
Enable single-key Quick Nav | Use single-key Quick Nav to navigate using single keys (instead of key combinations). To turn single-key Quick Nav on or off while working, press VO-Q. |
Always allow typing in text fields while using single-key Quick Nav | Type text instead of entering commands when the VoiceOver cursor is focused on a text area. Note: This option is available in macOS 14.2 or later. |
When left and right arrow keys are pressed | Choose what happens when you press the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys at the same time: turn arrow-key Quick Nav on or off, turn single-key Quick Nav on or off, turn both arrow-key and single-key Quick Nav on or off, or do nothing. Note: This option is available in macOS 14.4 or later. |
When toggling Quick Nav | When you turn Quick Nav on or off, choose to play a tone or have VoiceOver speak. |
