Share calendars on Mac
You can share calendars in iCloud or share your calendar account with people who use the same CalDAV or Exchange calendar service (for example, with fellow employees at your company). You can also publish calendars or subscribe to other published calendars.
Share an iCloud or CalDAV calendar
If you set up iCloud on your Mac, you can use Calendar to share iCloud calendars with others who use iCloud. You can share individual calendars hosted in CalDAV with other people who have accounts on the same calendar server.
Go to the Calendar app
on your Mac.
Place the pointer over the calendar’s name in the calendar list, then click
.
If you don’t see the calendar list on the left, choose View > Show Calendar List.
Click Share With, then enter the names or email addresses of people you want to invite to share your calendar.
If you don’t see Share With, click below the last name or email address in the Shared With list. If you see a Shared By [name] list instead of a Shared With list, only the person named can add people.
You can set individual view and edit permissions for each invitee. Do one of the following:
iCloud calendar: Place the pointer over a name or email address in the Shared With list, then click the down arrow
.
CalDAV calendar: Control-click the person’s name or email address in the Shared With list.
Tip: To let anyone view your iCloud calendar—including people not listed in the Shared With list—select Public Calendar. People who subscribe to your public calendar can view it, but can’t change it. Only people listed in the Share With field who have view and edit privileges can make changes.
Click Done.
People you added to the Shared With list are sent an invitation (a notification and an email) to join the shared calendar.

Publish a calendar or calendar group
If your calendar list has an On My Mac section, you can publish a calendar that’s in that section on a WebDAV server you have access to. Other people can subscribe to your published calendar or view it in a web browser.
Go to the Calendar app
on your Mac.
Choose View > Show Calendar List, then click a calendar below On My Mac.
If On My Mac isn’t listed, your calendars are in an account, such as iCloud. To add On My Mac, choose File > New Calendar > On My Mac.
If you select a calendar group, all event information is published in one calendar.
Choose Edit > Publish, then enter a name in the “Publish calendar as” field.
This action doesn’t change the name in your calendar list.
Enter the web address for the server and the login name and password, if necessary.
To have changes to your calendar automatically copied to the published version, select “Publish changes automatically.”
To control what information is published, select or deselect the other checkboxes.
Click Publish.
A published calendar has a Share Calendar button
next to its name.
Give another person access to your calendar account
You can share your calendar account with people who use the same CalDAV or Exchange calendar service (for example, with fellow employees at your company). You can choose whether others can edit the calendar account or only view it.
Go to the Calendar app
on your Mac.
Choose Calendar > Settings, then click Accounts.
Select the calendar account.
Click Delegation, click Edit, then click
.
Enter the name of the person you want to give access to, then choose their name from the list that appears.
If you’re giving access to a CalDAV account, select the Allow Write checkbox to let the person edit your calendars.
If you’re giving access to an Exchange account, select the person’s level of access from the Calendars column.
You can see calendar accounts you have access to. See Manage shared calendars.
Subscribe to calendars
You can view a calendar that someone published or shared by subscribing to it in Calendar.
To subscribe to a calendar from a link on the internet or an email you received, click the link. If you click the link, you can skip steps 1 and 2, and the calendar’s web address is filled out for you in step 3.
Go to the Calendar app
on your Mac.
Choose File > New Calendar Subscription.
Enter the calendar’s web address, then click Subscribe.
Enter a name for the calendar in the Name field, then click the adjacent pop-up menu and choose a color.
Click the Location pop-up menu, then choose an account for the subscription.
If you choose iCloud, the calendar is available on all your computers and devices that are set up with iCloud.
If you choose On My Mac, the calendar is saved on your computer.
To get the calendar’s event attachments or alerts, deselect the appropriate Remove checkboxes.
Click the “Auto-refresh” pop-up menu, then choose how often to update the calendar.
To prevent alerts from appearing for this calendar, select “Ignore alerts.”
Click OK.
To make changes later, click the name of the calendar, then choose Edit > Get Info.
The events shown in a subscription calendar are controlled by the provider. You can’t edit calendars you are subscribed to (for example, the Holidays calendar).
If you don’t see the calendar list on the left, choose View > Show Calendar List.
If you receive an invitation to join an iCloud shared calendar, you can accept the invitation on your Mac or your iOS or iPadOS device that’s set up for iCloud in the same Apple Account, or on iCloud Calendar on iCloud.com.
If you share an iCloud calendar or join someone else’s shared iCloud calendar, you may receive email whenever the shared calendar is updated. You can stop receiving these emails by changing a setting in Calendar settings on iCloud.com.
