If you can't sign in to your device with your personal Apple Account

If your device is enrolled in Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager, or Apple Business Essentials, the IT Administrator of your organization may require that you sign in to the device with a school or work Apple Account.

If your IT Administrator enables the setting that requires sign-in using a school or work account on your device, you may receive one of the following error messages when trying to sign in using your personal account:

  • "Couldn’t Sign In. This device can only be used with Apple Accounts from [organization name]. Contact your administrator for more information."

  • "Verification Failed. This device can only be used with Apple Accounts from [organization name]. Contact your administrator for more information."

If you receive either error message, please contact the school or business administrator that provided your device for assistance. If you are not associated with a school or business and purchased this device from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, please contact Apple Support for help.
