Update Apple Home
Update Apple Home to improve smart home accessory performance and use features like guest access, robot vacuum cleaners, and Activity History in the Home app.
Support for the previous version of Apple Home will end on February 10, 2026.
If you haven't updated yet
If you are part of a home in the Home app that contains at least one smart home accessory, such as a HomePod, Apple TV, or smart light bulb, you will be prompted to update if you are not using the latest version of Apple Home. Information about updating may appear in the Home app, in the Settings app, or Apple email communications.
If you are part of a home in the Home app that is using the older version of Apple Home, you may be automatically upgraded to the latest version of Apple Home.
Before you update
Update your devices to the latest software. Any device connected to an updated home that doesn't use iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, or watchOS 9.2 or later will lose access to the updated home until you update the device. This includes people that you invite to control your home.
To share control of your home and receive Home notifications on the latest version of Apple Home, you must set up a home hub, like an Apple TV or HomePod. iPad isn't supported as a home hub on the latest version of Apple Home.
Update in the Home app
Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Tap or click .
Select . If you own multiple homes, choose one, then select Home Settings.
Select Software Update.
Tap or click Update Now, then follow the prompts.

All of the homes that you own are updated at the same time. "This home and all accessories are up to date" appears after the update.
