Audio channel

The data in an audio file representing a single sound source. For example, a stereo audio file has two audio channels, corresponding to the two microphone inputs used to record the file, and to the two speakers (left and right) used to output the file during playback. In Final Cut Pro, the audio channels in a clip are grouped into one or more audio components, which you can expand in the timeline to edit each audio channel separately.
