Studio Display (2026) USB-C Boards

Before You Begin

Danger

Ensure that the AC power cord isn't plugged into an electrical outlet.

Remove the following part before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque drive (10–34 Ncm)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm bit

  • Torx Plus 4IP 25 mm bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

Note: If you've already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Pinch both sides on the end of the right speaker flex cable. Then slide the cable out of the connector.

  2. Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to remove the three 4IP screws (923-14139) from the USB-C boards connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the eight 3IP screws (923-14053) from the USB-C boards.

  4. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the ends of the two USB-C boards flex cables off the connectors.

  5. Use the flat end of the black stick to lift the right USB-C boards and remove them from the housing. Then repeat this step to remove the left USB-C boards.

Reassembly

Important

The USB-C boards are not interchangeable. Install the boards marked "0/1" in the left USB-C slot. Install the boards marked "2/3" in the right USB-C slot.

  1. Position the USB-C boards marked "2/3" over the pair of slots in the housing located closer to the speaker. Then gently press the boards into the housing.

  2. Press the end of the right USB-C boards flex cable to the connector.

  3. Position the USB-C boards marked "0/1" over the remaining slots in the housing. Then gently press the boards into the housing.

  4. Press the end of the left USB-C boards flex cable to the connector.

  5. Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 11.5 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the eight 3IP screws (923-14053) into the USB-C boards.

  6. Position the USB-C boards connector cowling over the ends of the two flex cables.

  7. Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 14.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to reinstall the three 4IP screws (923-14139) into the USB-C boards connector cowling.

  8. Slide the end of the right speaker flex cable into the connector.
