Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Use a torque driver and the Micro stix bit to remove the trilobe screw from the charge port assembly flex cable. Set aside the screw.

  2. Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove three crosshead screws from the Taptic Engine connector cowling and one crosshead screw from the Taptic Engine. Set aside the screws. Remove the Taptic Engine connector cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Lift the charge port assembly flex cable off the connector on the logic board (top). There are two flex cable connectors on top of the main microphone. Lift the ends of the main microphone flex cable (right) and the Taptic Engine flex cable (left) off of the connectors.

    1. Note the alignment of the two flex cables on the main microphone for reassembly.

    2. Lift the charge port assembly flex cable to the left to access a crosshead screw.

      • Caution: There is adhesive under the charge port assembly flex cable.

  4. Use a torque driver and the JCIS bit to remove one crosshead screw from the Taptic Engine. Set aside the screw.

  5. Lift the Taptic Engine to separate it from the battery shim and then use the black stick to lift the Taptic Engine flex cable from the adhesive on the main microphone to remove it.
