MacBook Pro (14-inch and 16-inch, 2024) MagSafe 3 Board
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
- MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4, 2024) 
- MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4 Pro or M4 Max, 2024) 
- MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2024) 

Tools
- Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm) 
- ESD-safe tweezers 
- Nylon probe (black stick) 
- Torx Plus 2IP bit 25 mm bit 
- Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit 
- USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable 
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
- Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 2IP bit to loosen the two 2IP set screws in the top case. - Important: Partially reinstall the set screws if they fall out. - 14-inch models: 923-06928 
- 16-inch model: 923-06958  
 
 
- Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the two 5IP screws (923-06959) from the MagSafe 3 board. - Note: The screws aren't magnetic.  
 
- Use ESD-safe tweezers to hold the MagSafe 3 board by the flange and lift it out of the top case.  
Reassembly
Important
If you're installing a replacement MagSafe 3 board, remove the protective film.
 
                                    
                                
                                    
                                        - Position the MagSafe 3 board in the top case.  
- Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to partially reinstall the two 5IP screws (923-06959).   
- Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 2IP bit to partially reinstall the two 2IP set screws into the top case. - 14-inch models: 923-06928  
- 16-inch model: 923-06958   
 
- Plug the MagSafe 3 end of the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable into the MagSafe 3 port to ensure MagSafe 3 board alignment. - Danger: Ensure that the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable isn’t plugged into power.  
 
- Insert the 5IP bit into the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver. Set the torque value to 22 Ncm. 
- Use the flat end of the black stick to hold the MagSafe 3 board in place (1) to create an even gap between the MagSafe 3 connector and top case (2).  
- Continue to hold the MagSafe 3 board in place with the black stick. Then use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to fully reinstall the two 5IP screws.  
- Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 2IP bit to fully reinstall the two 2IP set screws.  
- Unplug the USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable from the MagSafe 3 port.  
Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
- MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4, 2024) 
- MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4 Pro or M4 Max, 2024) 
- MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2024)
