Use MDC admin credentials to install Xsan configuration profiles

Learn which user name and password to use when you install an Xsan configuration profile in macOS High Sierra, macOS Sierra, OS X El Capitan, or OS X Yosemite.

When you install an Xsan configuration profile, you may see the following message:

A server administrator username and password are required to join SAN [SAN NAME].

If you enter an invalid user name and password, the profile doesn't install, and you see this alert message:

Profile installation failed.

Unable to open proxy session

To resolve this issue, enter the user name and password for an administrative user on your Xsan metadata controller (MDC). If your Xsan has more than one MDC, use the admin user name and password of the first MDC listed in the profile's "Configuration Servers" list.
