Watch films and TV shows together in FaceTime on your iPhone or iPad

With SharePlay, everyone can watch films and TV shows in sync in a FaceTime call.

Watch videos together while on a FaceTime call

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, start a FaceTime call.
  2. Swipe up from the bottom edge of the FaceTime call, then open a video streaming app that supports SharePlay. 
  3. Choose a film or TV show, and press play. If prompted, tap SharePlay.

Playback controls are shared by everyone watching, so anyone can play, pause, rewind or fast forward. Changing settings such as closed captioning and volume will affect your device only.

You can also start a SharePlay session from supported streaming apps.

  1. Open your streaming app.
  2. Find a film or TV show that you want to share. Tap the Menu button  or the Share button .
  3. Tap SharePlay SharePlay button, then enter the contacts you want to call.
  4. Tap FaceTime to start FaceTime video. Or tap the Audio button  to start FaceTime audio. 
  5. Start the video.

Join a watch session in a FaceTime call

  1. In a FaceTime call, tap Open next to Join SharePlay.

  2. After the video streaming app has opened, tap Join SharePlay.
  3. To return to the FaceTime call, tap the picture in picture tile on top of the video streaming app.

If you don't have access to the content, you'll be asked to get access through a subscription, a purchase or a free trial, if it's available.

Find out which apps support SharePlay

  1. In a FaceTime call, tap the Share Content button .
  2. Under Apps for SharePlay, swipe through the list of your installed apps that you can share from, then tap an app to open it. Or tap More to browse supported apps in the App Store.

FaceTime and some FaceTime features may not be available in all countries or regions.

Some content may not be supported if SharePlay users are in different countries or regions.
