Turn the torch on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro

The LED flash on your iPhone or iPad Pro doubles as a torch, so you can get extra light when you need it.

There are a few ways you can turn your torch on or off. You can ask Siri, or you can use Control Centre on an iPhone with Face ID or an iPad Pro. Or use Control Centre with an iPhone with a Home button.

Ask Siri

Here are a few examples of how you can use Siri to turn on your torch:

  • "Hey Siri, turn on my torch."
  • "Hey Siri, will you turn on my torch?"
  • "Hey Siri, turn off my torch."

 

You can turn on the flashlight oh your iPhone through Control Centre. 

Turn on or off the torch on iPhone models with Face ID or on iPad Pro

  1. Swipe down from the top right-hand corner to open Control Centre on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon.
  3. To turn off the flashlight, tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon again.

If you don't see the Flashlight button Flashlight icon when you open Control Centre, you can change your settings to add it. Go to Settings > Control Centre, then tap Flashlight in the list of available controls.

You can also turn on the flashlight from the Lock screen: Press and hold the Flashlight button Flashlight icon, in the bottom left-hand corner.

Turn off your torch on an iPhone with a Home button by swiping up from the bottom to use Control Centre. 

 

Use Control Centre on an iPhone with a Home button

  1. Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Centre on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon.
  3. To turn off the flashlight, tap the Flashlight button Flashlight icon again.

Change the brightness of the torch

  1. On an iPhone with Face ID or an iPad, swipe down from the upper right-hand corner to open Control Centre. Or on an iPhone with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Centre.
  2. Press and hold the Flashlight button Flashlight icon.
  3. Drag the slider up or down.
