How to prepare your iPad for Apple Trade In
If you opted to trade in your iPad when you purchased an Apple product, you‘ll receive a trade-in kit with everything you need to return your iPad to Apple. If you’re in the Asia-Pacific region, a trade-in kit will be delivered to you or be made available at a designated location.
Customers in the Asia-Pacific region should only follow steps in the Before you return your iPad and Return your iPad sections.
Before you return your iPad
You must remove your iPad from your Apple Account device list before you send it.
To protect your data, erase your iPad.
Switch the SIM card from your old iPad to your new iPad if it uses one.
Remove all screen protectors and cases. If these items are included in the box, they will be recycled and cannot be returned to you.
Pack your iPad
Important: You must initiate a separate trade-in for each product that you want to trade in and pack each trade-in product in a separate box. More information about how to trade in or recycle your Apple product is available online.
If you’re in the Asia-Pacific region, continue to the Return your iPad to Apple section for your country or region.
Remove the cardboard insert from the box. Unfold all of the flaps to loosen the plastic sleeve attached to the cardboard insert.
Centre your device inside the plastic sleeve facing down.
Fold the side flaps back down to tighten the plastic sleeve around your device.
Fold the end flaps back up so that the insert will fit back into the box.
Place the folded insert back into the box. (Do not include extra items or accessories, including your SIM card. If you include extra items in the box, these won't be returned to you.)
Close the box.
Seal the box with tape and send the box to Apple.* If there is a battery sticker pasted on the outside of the box, please make sure the battery sticker is not obstructed.
Cover the entire original shipping label on the box with the return shipping label provided.
*Apple is not responsible for any damage sustained during transit.
Return your iPad to Apple
Choose your country or region:
United States and Canada
Find the name of the courier on the return label.
Visit the courier’s website to find a drop-off location.
Get a receipt from the courier.
Check your new device delivery email for a link to check the status of your trade-in.
Australia
Choose a scheduled pick-up or drop-off at designated locations. If you choose pick-up, a trade-in kit will be delivered to you before courier collection. For drop-off, the trade-in kit will be available at the drop-off location.
Get a receipt from the courier.
Check your new device delivery email for a link to check the status of your trade-in device.
China mainland
The courier will bring you a trade-in kit to collect your iPad.
Get a receipt from the courier.
Check your new device delivery email for a link to check the status of your trade-in.
Hong Kong
Choose a scheduled pick-up or drop-off at designated locations. If you choose pick-up, the courier will bring a trade-in kit to collect your iPad. For drop-off, the trade-in kit will be available at the drop-off location.
Get a receipt from the courier.
Check your new device delivery email for a link to check the status of your trade-in.
Japan
The courier will bring you a trade-in kit to collect your iPad.
Get a receipt from the courier.
Check your new device delivery email for a link to check the status of your trade-in.
Korea
A trade-in kit will be delivered to you for drop-off.
Drop off your device at a designated location.
Get a receipt from the courier.
Check your new device delivery email for a link to check the status of your trade-in.
Taiwan
The courier will bring you a trade-in kit to collect your iPad.
Get a receipt from the courier.

Vietnam
Choose a scheduled pick-up or drop-off at designated locations. If you choose pick-up, the courier will bring a trade-in kit to collect your iPad. For drop-off, the trade-in kit will be available at the drop-off location.
