What to do before you sell or give away your Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD

To prepare your Apple TV for a new owner, follow these steps to reset it to its factory settings and remove it from your associated devices.

Follow these steps to remove all your personal information from your Apple TV and restore it to its factory settings. After you've reset your Apple TV, find out how to remove it from your associated devices list so that you can make room for new devices.

1. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > System > Reset.

2. Choose a reset option:

   • Reset: This option is the fastest way to return your Apple TV to its factory settings. This option doesn't require an internet connection.

   • Reset and Update: This option will return your Apple TV to its factory settings and install software updates. This option requires an internet connection.

3. Keep your Apple TV plugged into a power source until the Reset process has finished. After resetting your Apple TV, all your content, settings and personal information will be erased.

4. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings.

5. Tap your name.

6. Scroll down and tap the Apple TV that you're selling or giving away.

7. Tap Remove from Account.
